Testing 1,2,3

Hello world!

If you are reading this, chances are you already know me. (Or for some reason randomly googled Shea What?!)  Good for you.  So the intro will be brief.  My name is Shea Griffin.  I had a great, 18-year radio career in Charlotte (John Boy and Billy Show, WFNZ, two months as a country DJ named Charlie Horse.) Yup.  Good times.  During that era, work most definitely came first.  The personal life was not what I had hoped it would be.  Now, I am a newlywed living at the beach and still looking for that next great career challenge.  Truth is, I have never been happier.

I have to thank my wife Kim for inspiring me to create this blog.  She is an outstanding writer, and I firmly believe she will have a published novel someday.  Be sure and read her blog at
http://kdsthinkingoutloud.blogspot.com.  Kim's writing is intelligent, thought-provoking, heartwrenching and painfully honest.  This blog will opine on why "It's Your Move" should have won an Emmy and why almost every cable network starts out great before morphing into the same channel.  I love "Married With Children" as much as the next guy, but does it need to be on FIVE stations?

I will also share some stories from the radio days, many of which will be true. For instance, in my "rookie year" of 1992 I was working at 95 Double Q (now Kiss 95.1).  I was allowed to board-op the overnight shift on the weekends but was not supposed to open the mic.  But I quickly learned the program director was almost always drunk and never listened on the weekends.  Hello audition tape!

I will also yammer incessantly about the greatness of "Cheers", our dog Bear and how awesome it is to see the ocean on a daily basis.  And I probably get a little too excited over Halloween candy and when the stores put up the Christmas decorations.  But I want to be honest about that from day one.

Some things do annoy me though.  Like when people get upset at the THOUGHT that LeBron James could one day be regarded as a better player than Michael Jordan.  Actually, I probably won't talk about that for awhile.  I covered 40-plus NBA games a year for much of my career.  Still a little burned out.

If you're still here, thanks for reading.  My hope is to provide enough quality content to make my 52 Twitter followers proud.  Or at least kill some time until football season. If there is one.

And in case you were wondering,  the title of the debut blog is the first of what will be many references to one of my favorite bands, Canada's own Barenaked Ladies, (Still the best live band I have ever seen.)  Woefully underrated.

Until next time.
